Positive COVID-19 cases increase to 28 in the Victor Central School District

New York – On Facebook Live meeting, Victor Central School District Superintendent Tim Terranova updated the community on where it stands on COVID-19.

According to Terranova, 28 positive cases are reported throughout the district as of September 22nd, 24 of those being students.

With 17 reported cases Victor’s primary school is leading the region.

His main goal is to keep schools open as long as possible, since knowing the negative effects of the virtual model from the pandemic Terranova said. However, if the cases keep rising, Terranova said they will have to look into temporary remote options. But for now, all schools in the district remain open.

Students and staff will be subject to weekly testing.

That is a new COVID-19 testing model and will be put in place for the school district.

Teachers and staff can opt-out of testing if they show proof of vaccination. Students are only allowed to be tested if they have parent or guardian consent.

This comes after the new New York State and CDC guidelines were announced in early September.
