Perinton man hits pedestrian while driving drunk
Perinton, New York — A man is accused of striking a pedestrian and other vehicles while driving drunk in Perinton.
According to Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies, a 36-year-old, Eric Benton, struck an individual just before 2 p.m. Saturday in the Perinton Square Mall parking lot on Pittsford Palmyra Road.
Police received several calls from witnesses.
According to police, Benton allegedly left the scene and, while exiting onto Route 250, struck another vehicle.
Deputies say, he sped off on Moseley Road, before crashing into several trees. Benton had to be extricated by members of the Egypt and Fairport fire departments.
The pedestrian had a minor leg injury and was treated at a local hospital. The driver of the vehicle that was struck on Route 250 was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
Benton was arrested for DWI, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, misdemeanor third-degree assault, and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. He was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for minor injuries and was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Perinton Town Court .
