Parolee shot 3 times by a parole officer in Canandaigua

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — A parolee was shot multiple times by a parole officer Tuesday morning outside a motel in Ontario County.

Ontario County Sheriff Kevin Henderson said a parole officer went to the Woodridge Motel on Lakeshore Drive in Canandaigua to serve a warrant to the parolee.

Henderson said the man tried to flee the scene in a car, striking the officer who tried to stop him. The parole officer landed on the hood of the car and fired his weapon seven times. Henderson said the parole officer hit the parolee three times.

The parolee, whose name has not been released, was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital via Mercy Flight. He is in stable condition.

The parole officer was taken to F.F. Thompson Hospital and has since been released.
