One person is death after two-vehicle crash with tractor-trailer
Chili, New York — On Wednesday morning a man died in two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer.
Officials from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office say that deputies responded to the crash at the intersection of Beaver Road and Chili-Scottsville Road around 8:30 a.m.
According to officials a tractor-trailer was involved in the crash with an SUV. The driver of SUV died from injuries sustained in the crash, adding that the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle, officials said.
The driver of the tractor-trailer has minor injuries and the SUV is heavily damaged, authorities said.
“At this point, this is a very active and ongoing investigation,” said Sgt. Matthew Bottone, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer. “Our technicians are out here working to process the scene, and our drone unit is here, and accident reconstruction team, and commercial vehicle enforcement team, to find out exactly what happened. You’re talking quite a difference in weight and obviously any motor vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer has the potential to be a serious accident.”
According to Sgt. Bottone the intersection where the incident happened is a four-way stop, and that is a place that sees a lot of accidents.
Authorities have temporary closed the intersection until first responders arrived to the scene.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
