Rochester, New York — In 2022, getting to Chicago will be much easier.

According to Monroe County Executive’s office announcement, starting June 5, 2022, Southwest Airlines will add non-stop service from the Frederick Douglass-Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) to Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW).

Except for Saturdays, nonstop service on Southwest Airlines from ROC to MDW will be offered twice daily.

Passengers can begin booking tickets today online at www.southwest.com for the period of June 5, 2022, through September 5, 2022.

“Chicago is ROC’s 6th largest market and new nonstop service on Southwest to Chicago Midway (MDW) will bring an additional 40% seat capacity to the Chicago-Rochester market,” said Monroe County Executive Bello, in the announcement. “Connecting through MDW will also bring nearly 20 new one-stop destinations for ROC passengers to connect to and significantly more options for ROC travelers flying on the Southwest network.”

The Frederick Douglass–Greater Rochester International Airport continues to take extra precautions to promote health and safety at the airport with the #ReadySetROC initiative.

That includes enhanced cleaning, additional hand sanitizing stations, face-covering policies, social distancing markers and reminders, plastic shields at all public counters, and other educational materials.
