Motorcyclist killed in Route 531 crash identified

UPDATE (April 29, 2021): The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office identified the motorcyclist who died in the April 27 crash on Route 531 in Ogden as Alexander Drexel, 18, of Spencerport.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE (April 28, 2021): A motorcyclist died following a crash on Route 531 near the Gates-Ogden border Tuesday night, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday morning.
The crash occurred on the eastbound lanes of Route 531, near Manitou Road, in Ogden around 10:45 p.m. Deputies arrived to find the motorcyclist was on the ground and had suffered serious injuries.
The motorcyclist, a man who was not identified by police, was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital where he died from his injuries early Wednesday morning, sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Matthew Bottone said Wednesday morning.
Deputies are looking to speak with anyone who witnessed the crash. Anyone with pertinent information is asked to call 911.
