Malware attack servers in the district. Victor Central School District to be closed Monday
Victor, N.Y – After servers in the district were hit by a malware attack, The Victor Central School District announced that it wll be closed on Monday.
The malware attack has caused all internet services in the district, including phones, to stop working. No personal or financial records, or student grades, have been compromised. The district stated that, depending on the situation, they will need to close for longer.
The letter notes that Monday will be treated as a snow day and that on Monday afternoon, school principals will contact the community to share the next steps.
The malware attack was discovered on Saturday morning and an attempt was made to take the network offline in order to avoid any further damage. This attack does not affect student-assigned Chromebooks, Google classrooms, or Gmail accounts, only the Windows servers and files of the District.
