Rochester, New York – Rochester pediatricians are preparing to receive doses of the Pfizer COVID vaccine for children.

After a panel of experts gave it the go-ahead, the FDA is expected to approve emergency use.

The CDC will follow up with guidelines for 5 to 11-year-olds.

According to a Rochester pediatrician, Dr. Michael Pichichero, the vaccine is critical in order to keep kids in the classroom.

“I would certainly endorse that every parent takes the opportunity to talk with their pediatrician who they trust most, about the decision to vaccinate their child. Pediatricians will be provided with vaccine as quickly as possible,” said Dr. Michael Pichichero of Rochester Regional Health Research Institute.

A kid’s vaccine is one-third the amount of an adult Pfizer dose.

Three weeks after their first shot, children would receive a second dose.
