Local doctors thankful for vaccinations before their pregnancies
Rochester, New York — Two pregnant doctors urge other women to get vaccinated to protect their families.
Doctors Tieg Beazer and Stefanie Hollenbach work at the University of Rochester Medical Center’s obstetrics and gynecology department.
Being infected with COVID-19 during pregnancy is dangerous for mothers and their children, both said.
They have witnessed the effects of getting the flu during pregnancies.
Beazer and Hollenbach were among the first to receive their vaccines since the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines became available.
Both have become pregnant with their first and third children, and say they are thankful to have their vaccinations with no additional risks for their families.
“It does not affect your ability to conceive, and it does not affect your baby’s health while in utero,” Beazer said. “[These] are two very important things to mention and that you are providing yourself with more immunity and protection for your baby once you get the vaccine.”
Both of them said they have had no pregnancy complications related to their vaccinations.
