Leaders of Erie, Monroe counties plan joint COVID briefing
Monroe County, New York – Leaders of both Erie and Monroe counties will hold a briefing Monday afternoon.
According to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office, the Finger Lakes region has the highest positivity rate in the state.
There have been 3,918 new COVID cases in Monroe County as of Friday, Nov. 12.
The seven-day rolling average of new cases as of Monday, Nov. 8 was 387 per day.
According to Monroe County officials, some of the upticks is due to school and college testing. Still, they have emphasized the need for people to take precautions and get vaccinated.
Erie County recorded 3,541 new cases in the last week.
Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello, Erie County Commissioner of Health Dr. Gale Burstein, and Monroe County Commissioner of Health Dr. Michael Mendoza will participate in the briefing.
Representatives from hospitals and Chief medical officers in Erie County will also join.
