Geneva Business Improvement District announces first-ever Downtown Winter Arts & Film Festival

New York – The first-ever Downtown Winter Arts & Film Festival February 5-12 was announced by the Geneva Business Improvement District (BID).

According to the Finger Lakes Times quotes BID Executive Director Michael Mills, February is typically a slow time for downtown businesses.

The film festival will be held at the Smith Opera House on February 11 at 7 p.m.

According to Mills, the organizers received 97 submissions, from everyone from student film makers to experienced professionals. Rebecca Burditt, assistant professor of media and society at HWS, helped put the festival together and will serve as a judge. Judges will review the submissions, and the top two in multiple categories will be shown on the big screen at the Smith.

There will be a downtown art walk on February 9. A number of venues will host music and there will be beverages available from Lake Drum Brewing.

On February 12, there will be a lantern parade. It’s patterned after one held in Atlanta each year Mills said.
