Genesee Valley Park Pool and Durand Eastman Beach in Rochester scheduled to open on June 24
Rochester, New York – On Monday, June 24, the summer season will begin at the Genesee Valley Park Pool on Elmwood Avenue and Durand Eastman Beach on Lakeshore Boulevard.
While swimming at Durand Eastman is free, the GVP pool has waived weekend and certain weekday swimming fees according to Mayor Malik Evans.
The following is the schedule for the GVP pool’s opening from Monday, June 24 to Sunday, July 7:
Open Swim
Monday to Friday: 10:00 a.m. to noon | 1:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. | 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: Noon to 3:45 p.m. (free)
Adult Lap Swim (ages 18 and up)
Monday to Friday: Noon to 1:00 p.m. (free) | 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
During Cool Sweeps the GVP pool will be open noon to 8:00 p.m. for open swim (fees apply).
From Monday, July 8 through Monday September 2, the GVP pool will change to the following schedule:
Open Swim
Monday to Friday: 1:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. | 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: Noon to 3:45 p.m. (free)

Monday to Friday: Noon to 1:00 p.m. (free) | 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
During Cool Sweeps, the GVP pool will be open noon to 8:00 p.m. for open swim (fees apply).
The GVP pool admission price is $1 for children under the age of 17 and $3 for adults, unless otherwise specified. Season passes cost forty dollars, and children under five enter free of charge with an adult companion.
The GVP Sports Complex, an all-season facility in Genesee Valley Park, has an Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool with a water slide, a ramp, and a portable lift to help those with disabilities. The building has a complete dressing room as well. To learn more, give 428-7888 a call.
