Former Brockport High School coach enters a not guilty plea to allegations of criminal sexual assault

Rochester, New York – After being accused of having sexual contact with a former student-athlete, a former coach at Brockport High School has entered a plea of not guilty toward the charges.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Anne Collins, who is now 28 years old and hails from Greece, was taken into custody last month after accusations surfaced that she had sexual contact with the victim, who was 15 years old at the time, between March and August of 2018.

Collins was arraigned on Tuesday morning on nine counts of perpetrating a criminal sexual act in the third degree, following an indictment handed down by a grand jury. She entered not guilty pleas to all of the charges.

Between the years 2017 and 2022, Collins served as a junior high basketball and softball coach at the Brockport Central School District. Since then, she has been employed in the field of social work and has been providing counseling services to children. In that capacity, Collins has reportedly stopped seeing children, according to her attorney.

When asked about the incident, Assistant District Attorney Hillary Langdon stated that it is just another instance of someone connected to a school district using their “power and control to manipulate, groom, and prey on children.”

“The fact that we’re standing in front of you again, talking to you about another person again connected to a school district, it’s just not OK,” she said. “Our children are expected to be safe when they go to school, they’re supposed to be safe when we give these teachers, counselors, coaches, we give our children over to them hoping (and) trusting them that they can protect our children and keep them safe — and we’re not seeing that in this community, and that’s a problem.”

Collins, who has no prior record of criminal activity, was sent to the Monroe County Jail on a bail of forty thousand dollars. Following her arrest, she was initially released on a bond of $5,000. Tuesday was the day that her counsel declined to speak.

The alleged victim was granted a protection order that prohibited any contact with them.
