Auburn, New York – Former Auburn Enlarged City School District Board Member Joseph Sheppard will have a new job.

Sheppard will join the Auburn school district as a technology teacher.

According to officials, that’s why Sheppard resigned from his post unexpectedly last month. After accepting the position, the logic was clear.

He applied for the job immediately after the board meeting where he announced his resignation. “We were all pretty shocked to hear the news,” Superintendent Jeff Pirozzolo told The Citizen about the resignation announcement.

For the last two years, Sheppard had taught in the Union Springs school district.

Sheppard had a successful tenure as Vice President, then president of the school board, before resigning. He was re-elected to a three year term in 2020.

According to the school board, they have not yet determined how to move forward with the vacancy, or how to fill it.
