Following Hurricane Helene, Governor Hochul is transferring resources from Rochester to the South

Rochester, New York – After Hurricane Helene unleashed her fury, aid is on its way to those in need in the South.

Hundreds more people have been reported missing, and over 60 people have passed away.
Millions of people are left without electricity, and homeowners in the affected communities are left to pick up the pieces. Governor Kathy Hochul of New York said on Sunday that her office will be deploying resources from organizations to help residents in the hardest-hit areas.

According to Hochul, there will be three heavy lift helicopters, four generators, and seventeen Army National Guard personnel arriving. The soldiers and the planes make up the majority of these resources, and they originate in Rochester. According to Hochul, they will be stationed at Army Aviation Support Facility #2 for a duration of around seven to 10 days. It should be noted that this is the same unit that was sent in to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Michael.

According to Hochul, the generators are moving to Georgia, and the soldiers and helicopters are on their way to South Carolina to support the North Carolina National Guard.

Hochul stated that the resource distribution was a component of the Emergency Management Assistance Compact in the statement made on Sunday.
