Following an accusation of sexual assault to the police, a fraternity at Cornell University was suspended

Ithaca, New York – Following an allegation by Cornell Police that someone had been sexually abused and coerced into using narcotics in the City of Ithaca, a fraternity at Cornell University has been placed on suspension.
The victim reported to Cornell Police that they were sexually assaulted on the 100 block of Edgemoor Lane on the weekend of October 25.
That section of the street is the home of two fraternities, Lambda Chi Alpha and Chi Phi.
Ithaca Police said that they are looking into a single sexual assault accusation, that there is only one suspect, and that the victim and the suspect know one other.
According to the students, they do not wish to discuss the accusations made against the fraternity in public. Nevertheless, some students expressed that they feel dangerous both on and off the Ithaca campus as women.
Fraternities temporarily suspended their gatherings two years ago due to allegations of drugging and sexual assault. At the time, all of the incidents involved fraternities that were registered.
Cornell Police are encouraging students to walk in groups and notify someone on or near campus of any unusual activity in the wake of the most recent sexual assault report.
Matthew Van Houten, the district attorney for Ithaca, said that he would not be commenting on the situation.
