Father going to prison for killing his baby
Rochester, New York – A 27-year-old man who killed his baby girl is going to prison.
According to prosecutors, Charlie Richmond, was sentenced to 27 and 1/3 years to life for the murder of his daughter, Arabella Richmond. She was nine months old when she died from blunt force trauma.
According to Rochester Police, they were called to a Culver Road home on Jan. 1, 2018, for the report of an unresponsive child. Baby Arabella was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she later died. Richmond was subsequently charged and convicted of second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, and aggravated criminal contempt.
Assistant District Attorney Amanda Balling praised the investigators who worked on the case, as well as the staff at Golisano Children’s Hospital, who treated Arabella.
“While we are pleased with today’s sentence, nothing can be done to bring back the life of this young child, a fact that Charlie Richmond will have to live with for the rest of his days,” she said.
The suspect was sentenced by New York State Supreme Court Justice Judith Sinclair.
