Rochester, New York – Getting a fake vaccination card became easier than ever. A lot of profiles offering fake COVID-19 vaccine cards for purchase occurred on the net and all you need to give them is your name, where you live, and date of birth.

On Instagram, one profile says $25 per card. Another profile’s biography says “Contact us for your COVID19 vaccination cards without taking the vaccine.”

With the rise of the COVID-19 delta variant, more businesses are only serving vaccinated patrons.

Swillburger bar and restaurant in the South Wedge will soon ask patrons to show proof of vaccination.

“That’s tough one cause how do you really know?,” asked Swillburger bar manager Abiose Spriggs. “I have mine and one is written in ballpoint ink and other one has a sticker on it so it’s kind of hard to tell. If you have the means to print it, you can probably get away with it.”

New York Attorney General Letitia James is warning New Yorkers about fake vaccination cards.

James said, “Not only do fake and fraudulently-completed vaccination cards violate federal and state laws and the public trust, but they also put the health of our communities at risk and potentially prolong this public health crisis. I strongly urge New Yorkers to reject these fake vaccination cards and get the COVID-19 vaccine, so that we can move forward from this pandemic and return to normalcy as soon as possible.”

Falsifying vaccine cards and records, as well as the unauthorized use of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) seals, also violate various federal and New York state laws and is subject to civil and criminal enforcement.
