Driver suffers serious injuries after ambulance hits tree in Henrietta
Henrietta, N.Y. – One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a crash Friday afternoon in Henrietta.
Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies were called to East River Road north of Martin Road around 3:15 p.m. for a report of an ambulance that hit a tree.
The driver of the ambulance was the only one in the vehicle at the time. Deputies say the driver may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash.
Deputies say the ambulance belongs to Penfield Volunteer Ambulance, however the driver is not an employee of the agency. They said the individual is a third-party professional authorized to drive the vehicle.
A stretch of East River Road in the area is closed for an investigation.
