Country Sweet’s Deep Fried Chicken Now Available in Greece
GREECE, N.Y. — Mild, hot or barbecue, no matter how you like your wings, Rochester‘s Country Sweet Chicken & Ribs has been serving them up for more than 40 years.
Hand breaded and deep-fried, there is really nothing like the taste of Country Sweet.
Owner Mary McCabe bought Country Sweet in 2014. It’s been open since 1977 and Greece is the newest location. McCabe is from Buffalo, so she knows what makes a good wing.
“The tenderness in the crunchiness that goes on in coated with the sweet sauce makes it a whole unique experience,” said McCabe.
Customers say the sauce is sweet and tangy and has a little heat, and that’s what makes Country Sweet so uniquely good.
“I’ve never had wings anywhere else like these,” said Lynn Krupa from Greece. “They are hot, but sweet, and yeah, they’re just not like chicken wings anywhere else I have found.”
It’s hard for Country Sweet employees to turn down eating a dozen wings, but all good employees should know what they’re selling.
“My biggest worry is eating here every day and being as big as the moon going out the door. I have to eat something every day,” said Teresa Mathew, Country Sweet employee.
“I eat them, but it’s one of those things when you are surrounded by it all day, every day, you can only have so much, right?” laughed Mary McCabe.
Right now the new store is only open for takeout.
Takeout hours are as follows:
- Monday – Thurs: 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
- Friday & Saturday: 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
- Sunday: 12 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Country Sweet is located at 1600 W. Ridge Rd. in Greece and 1691 Mt. Hope Ave. in Rochester. Both locations are open seven days a week.
