Community honors Victoria Jobson with an annual coat drive while arrests are made in a cold case

Rochester, New York – In recent years, donations have been collected by volunteers and family members in memory of the late Victoria Jobson.

By midday on Saturday, a collection of coats, hats, boots, gloves, and other items was assembled for those in need at the intersection of Lyell Avenue and Rutter Street.

On December 7, 1992, in the vicinity of where Victoria Jobson’s body was discovered, community members and Jobson’s children gathered for their annual coat drive.

“We want everyone to remember that her name continues to live on,” stated Kurtis Jobson, the son of Jobson. Her memory endures. She was cherished, standing out as someone memorable and significant.

For decades, Jobson’s family has been in search of closure, as the case had grown cold. In November, authorities revealed that two individuals had been taken into custody.

Arthur Jason, 59, from Conesus, was arrested following the unsealing of a grand jury indictment after 32 years. He entered a plea of not guilty to the charge of second-degree murder.

Authorities in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, have apprehended a second suspect whose identity remains unknown.

On Saturday, the latest developments regarding the arrests stirred a range of feelings among Jobson’s family members.

“We’re here to support them,” stated Sergeant Dave Joseph from the Rochester Police Department. “The family has spent many years without closure in their case, and for their efforts in this pursuit, they truly deserve recognition…for their unwavering perseverance throughout the years.”

Officers from the Rochester Police Department contributed their own donations, totaling nearly 150 coats.

Jobson’s children expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the community for its unwavering support throughout the years and for the contributions made. The coat drive has been held annually in memory of their mother.

“She was a mother and a grandmother to a grandson she will never have the chance to meet,” Jobson remarked. “I overlooked many things too… (we’re) ensuring the name endures so that it remains unforgettable.”
