Car fire spreads to homes on Fourth Street

Rochester, New York — Tuesday around 1:45 a.m., a car fire broke out in Rochester on Fourth Street.

A car that was between two homes caught fire and it spread to the neighboring homes.

“The firefighters assisted with rescuing four dogs that were located outside in the rear of the property and rescued several pets that were located on the second floor. It took firefighters one hour to bring the fire under control. The residence suffered significant damage and was expected to be demolished,” fire officials said in a statement.

Two firefighters were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. They have since been released.

The Red Cross is helping four adults and five children who have been displaced.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
