Bill requiring backseat passengers to buckle up passes State Senate

Albany, N.Y. – A bill that would require passengers over the age of 16 to wear seat belts in the backseat of a vehicle has now passed both the State Assembly and Senate.
The Senate passed the legislation Tuesday. It will next be delivered to Governor Cuomo for his signature.
AAA says backseat passengers who do not buckle up are three times more likely to die in a crash, eight times more likely to be seriously hurt and twice as likely to kill someone in the front seat.
