Apartment Fire on Dodge St. caused by unattended cooking

Rochester, New York — On Friday morning, the Rochester Fire Department responded to 82 Dodge St. for the report of a house fire with people trapped.
According to firefighters, there was a fire on the first floor when they arrived. Once the fire department arrived, two occupants were able to evacuate.
Four apartments were affected, but there was only damage to one apartment, RFD said.
According to the fire department, it took about 15 minutes to get the fire under control.
The fire investigation unit determined that unattended cooking was the cause of the fire.
RFD asks any city Rochester resident who needs a smoke or CO alarm to call 311.
