Geneseo, New York – Following a pursuit on Interstate 390 in Livingston County earlier this month, a Monroe County man faces charges.

On July 8, deputies responded to a report of an erratic driver and attempted to make a traffic stop.

The driver allegedly continued southbound on 390 at a high rate of speed, leading police to use stop sticks to attempt to get the vehicle to stop.

A 39-year-old, Joseph Messina, of Spencerport, before continuing to drive away, allegedly drove at a deputy who was setting up stop sticks and nearly hit him.

The chase ended in Steuben County, where the vehicle drove into the median and stopped.

According to the police, they took Messina into custody without further incident.

Messina was taken to Livingston County Jail and held on bail. He is charged with felony attempted aggravated assault upon an office, felony reckless endangerment, menacing, unlawful fleeing of an office, criminal mischief, and several traffic violations.
