American Airlines To Cut Service To Stewart

NEW WINDSOR, NY — American Airlines will not be returning to New York Stewart International Airport.
The airline announced Thursday that it will suspend service to 15 small United States cities in October after federal aid requiring the flights expires, CNBC reported, including Stewart in New Windsor.
The aid package was designed to help save airline employee jobs, but demand has not recovered since the beginning of the new coronavirus pandemic.
Flights were suspended earlier in the fall as part of what was then described as a temporary pause from Oct. 7 to Nov. 3, Spectrum Local News said.
A spokesman for the airlines said the service was not financially viable.
Other area airports where service was cut include New Haven, Connecticut, and Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
