Admission to the Corning Museum of Glass will be free on MLK Day

Corning, New York – The Corning Museum of Glass is offering free admission on Monday to anyone seeking for a way to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

On January 20, the Corning Museum of Glass will be open during regular business hours and will waive entry fees for all guests. During some periods of the holiday, the museum will also provide free readings, tours, and volunteer opportunities.

Everyone can take part in guided tours of the galleries at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and families can hear special readings at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and noon. Due to the limited number of tour slots, those who wish to participate should make reservations by speaking with someone at the admissions counter.

For people who want to give back to the community, the museum will be hosting two service projects from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Individuals can create cards for veterans and senior residents and decorate bags for Corning Meals on Wheels.

The free admission does not cover Make Your Own Glass activities. Spots fill up quickly, so those interested in creating a glass project on January 20 should book online in advance. The deadline for creating a limited-edition Martin Luther King Jr. suncatcher is MLK Day. Guests can take their suncatchers home the same day they are manufactured because this craft is sandblasted and doesn’t need to be cooled or healed.
