A bankruptcy declaration from Southern Tier Orthodontics
Elmira, New York – Residents of Elmira reported Thursday that an orthodontist is filing for bankruptcy after informing patients via text message of the decision.
On Thursday, January 2, Southern Tier Orthodontics informed its patients that it was going to file for bankruptcy and was closing for personal and financial reasons.
Jason Horn, an orthodontist, stated in the message that he would no longer be treating his patients and that they would now need to see another orthodontist. In order to facilitate a seamless transition of care, the message stated that he would provide the new orthodontists access to his records.
Regarding the financial circumstances, Horn stated that the bankruptcy would prevent him from paying those patients back.
“Bankruptcy is being declared and I will not be able to reimburse you for past payments or for additional treatment fees you may incur moving forward with your future provider,” Horn stated, adding that some of you have paid in full or in advance for your orthodontic treatment. “I sincerely apologize for this, but I have no other choice due to my personal and financial circumstances,” Horn stated in the text message.
Horn stated that you can contact him at storthoinfo@gmail.com for any orthodontic emergencies.
On Thursday, Horn’s office was shuttered. The door was marked “Office is closed due to emergency,” with no further explanation.
