Gates Chili unveils 2 all-electric buses
Rochester, New York – Gates-Chili is becoming one of the first school districts in upstate New York to add all-electric school buses.
On Tuesday morning, the Gates-Chili School District cut the ribbon on two new electric buses.
After receiving a voucher from NY State to promote green transportation, the district adopted a measure to purchase the buses.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony included a look under the hood at the new buses that don’t run on fossil fuels.
“Now with the electric buses, the road noise is gone, and the engine noise is especially gone, and now I can hear the students, if there is an emergency, I can react quicker to them,” said district bus driver Charles Vorn Dren.
