C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer 5K & Fun Walk returns after two-years pause
Irondequoit, New York – On Saturday, C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer Association celebrated the return of its annual 5K & Fun Walk after the coronavirus pandemic forced cancellations each of the last two years.
In the Rochester area, since 1976, the organization has served families of children battling cancer or chronic blood disorders.
According to Executive Director Holly Dutcher, the need to support those families is especially great this year, as they deal with the impact of pandemics and other issues.
“With gas prices as expensive as they are right now, we help families with gas, parking vouchers,” Dutcher said. “Sadly we help families with funeral expenses if they need it. Really, we’re here to supply non-medical support to families with children that have cancer or chronic blood disorders.”
C.U.R.E. also works to promote and fund research toward finding a cure for cancer.
