Dream Factory of Rochester turned the dream of a local girl into reality
Bergen, New York – On Tuesday The Dream Factory of Rochester turned that dream of a local girl into reality in Genesee County.
A 10-year-old Lydia Davin from Caledonia dreamed of owning a horse one day. The Dream Factory is a local group of volunteers who help make wishes come true for children battling critical or chronic illnesses.
Gelato, Lydia’s new friend, is a 15-year-old bay gelding horse and is being boarded at the Oasis Equestrian Center in Bergen for Lydia to visit whenever she pleases.
Laura Walitsky, area director of the Dream Factory of Rochester, expressed what it meant to grant Lydia’s wish. “Lydia loves riding, and when we met her she pulled out a book and she knew exactly what kind of horse she wanted, and we were able to find exactly what she wanted. We’re thrilled to be able to do something like this.”
With the arrival of her new companion, Lydia was overjoyed. “It’s very exciting and emotional at the same time – I was smiling for like the entire day.”
Lydia is the 295th dream that the Dream Factory of Rochester has fulfilled.
