Mayor Malik Evans hopes to have new police chief by spring
Rochester, N.Y. — The Rochester Police Department is searching for a permanent police chief.
According to Mayor Malik Evans, he’ll have the person in that job by the spring, if not earlier.
Last week, the city contracted with a national search firm.
The firm has already begun meeting with the mayor and other city officials. Now, it’s looking for public input.
Residents are asked to weigh in via an online survey.
Community focus groups will also be held. At this time, the department is led by Interim Chief David Smith.
