More dogs than usual waiting for adoption in Lollypop Farm
Fairport, New York — Lollypop Farm is looking for people who would like to adopt dogs.
A dog’s adoption frees up spaces for Lollypop to provide veterinary services and life-saving care to other animals.
According to Vicky Pape, director of animal placement, the number of dogs currently at the shelter is unusually high.
Some of them have been there for over a month.
“Usually we have a ton of dog adoptions over the holidays and we have seen some but not as many as we usually do,” she said.
“We also have had a number of law enforcement cases. We’ve helped out with some transports from down south – with hurricanes and natural disasters – so some of those were emergencies,” Pape added.
Some of the dogs’ adoption fees have been discounted. In addition, as part of the seniors-for-seniors program, fees are waived for adopters age 60 and older who adopt an animals ages 6 and up.
The shelter also takes in other animals, including cats, rabbits, and some farm animals.
Check out all the animals in need of homes online and in person at the shelter at 99 Victor Road, Fairport.
