NY Covid State of Emergency is in effect
New York – Starting Friday morning, the State of Emergency for New York State is in effect.
Due to the already circulating Delta variant, and now- the Omicron variant, Governor Hochul declared the order ahead of potential Covid spikes this winter.
The order will allow the state health department to limit non-essential and non-urgent procedures at hospitals.
It goes into effect just as news broke of five known Omicron cases in New York City.
Friday Lt. Governor Brian Benjamin is in Rochester to discuss the State of Emergency.
