270 new COVID-19 cases reported in Monroe County
Rochester, New York — According to the Monroe County Department of Public Health 270 new COVID-19 cases are reported on Monday.
The county is averaging 378 new cases per day over the past week, with a seven-day rolling average positivity rate of 8.8%, per the latest update to the county’s COVID-19 dashboard.
A New York State web page tracks which variants of the virus are spreading in New York and another one tracks breakthrough cases of COVID-19 in vaccinated people.
The seven-day average of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 was 391.63 through Nov. 29.
Monroe County said in an email Monday 2,643 new cases have been reported since the prior Monday along with 7 new deaths.
According to health officials, 82.2% (531,769 people) of eligible Monroe County residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 485,419 residents, or 65.4% of the eligible population, are fully vaccinated as of Nov. 29.
According to the CDC’s COVID-19 data tracker, 9.18% of Monroe County’s hospital beds were occupied by COVID patients, and 20.45% of Monroe County’s ICU beds were occupied by COVID-19 patients as of Nov. 16. That metric was no longer on the CDC’s tracker on Nov. 22, 2021.
To date, 1,492 people in Monroe County have died from COVID-19 since March 2020. The county said between March 1, 2021, and Oct. 31, 2021, a total of 198 COVID-19 related deaths were reported: 93% of the deaths in patients younger than 65 were not fully vaccinated and 71% of patients 65 and older were not fully vaccinated.
The Monroe County Department of Public Health resumed providing an update on new COVID-19 cases every weekday on July 27. The CDC’s numbers are updated daily but lag by several days.
