College athletes may soon be able to make money in New York

New York – College young athletes have never been able to profit off their own talent or image before.
The reason is strict rules from the National Collegiate Athletic Association prevented them from doing so.
After the NCAA had been against it for so long, a policy change would allow athletes to be able to profit off their own name, image and likeness.
Trying to keep the corporate element out of the game and keep the college athletics pure was one of the reasons NCAA seemed to be opposed to the idea of letting athletes profit off their own image was.
However, college athletes have had to sit by and witness their names being sold on jerseys and colleges making money off their performance.
According to Sen. Kevin Parker, he is working to push legislation that would help the college athletes make money in New York .
While signing into law would make it cleaner and easier for the athletes, it isn’t entirely necessary to accomplish the goal, Capital Region sports agent J.R. Rickert said.
