149 new COVID-19 cases and 8 more coronavirus-related deaths reported in Monroe County

Rochester, New York — According to the Monroe County Department of Public Health, 149 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 8 more coronavirus-related deaths are reported on Monday.

As of Aug. 30, the 7-day average positivity rate for the county based on combined PCR and antigen test results is 4.4% and the 7-day average of new cases is 168.

A total of 1,369 people in Monroe County have died from COVID-19 since March 2020.

The case rate per 100,000 people over the last seven days was 164.20 through Sunday, Aug. 29 according to the Centers for Disease Control, which it defines as high.

According to health officials, 64.5% (479,246 people) of Monroe County residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 449,165 residents, or 60.5% of the population, are fully vaccinated as of Aug. 30.

Monroe County’s COVID data tracker shows 155 COVID patients hospitalized and 45 in the ICU as of Aug. 28, which is the last day it was updated.

According to the CDC’s COVID-19 data tracker, 4.71% of Monroe County’s hospital beds were occupied by COVID patients and 10.82% of Monroe County’s ICU beds were occupied by COVID-19 patients as of Aug. 28.

Monroe County says there are 11 fully-vaccinated hospital patients, two of whom are in the ICU and one of whom is on a ventilator. In contrast, the county says there are 40 unvaccinated hospital patients, 10 of whom are in the ICU and nine of whom are on a ventilator.

The Monroe County Department of Public Health resumed providing an update on new COVID-19 cases every weekday on July 27. The CDC’s numbers are updated daily, but lag by several days.
