Floral Show in bloom at the George Eastman Museum
Rochester, New York – The yearly Dutch Connection floral show at the George Eastman Museum concluded its two-week run on Sunday.
Parts of George Eastman’s ancient estate were covered in thousands of spring annuals, tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, and amaryllis in a plethora of vivid tones.
To provide broader access to Dutch Connection for anyone who are unable to visit the museum in person, the museum also offers online experiences.
The museum website offered downloaded activities for youngsters to try at home, an audio introduction, and a virtual 360-degree tour of the exhibition.
Every year, George Eastman ordered tens of thousands of bulbs from Holland when he was residing at the mansion.
His travels in 1895 to Holland, where he was struck by the beauty of the flower fields, served as the impetus for his instructions. Inspired by Eastman’s first orders from Dutch bulb suppliers, this exhibit was created.
