Dead body found in rental SUV near Greater Rochester International Airport
Gates, New York – A body was discovered in the back of a rental SUV at a Hertz rental lot on Ajax Road, near the Greater Rochester International Airport, on Thursday morning, police confirmed.
Staff at the lot alerted police around 10:30 a.m. that a body was found in the back of the rental SUV that had been towed from the city.
Police said that they could not confirm the identity of the body, how long the person had been deceased, or whether the body was concealed.
Gates Police Chief Rob Long referred to the death as a “suspicious death,” adding that it was unclear if there was any foul play involved or if the death occurred naturally. Long added that the employees who discovered the body were no longer at the scene by the time he was notified, and the police are investigating the incident to discover what happened, help the deceased person, and bring peace of mind to their family members.
The Rochester and Gates police departments are both investigating the incident.
