Millport is looking into a water system issue after receiving calls from locals
Millport, New York – Following numerous reports of households being without water on Wednesday morning, the Village of Millport is offering bottled water and looking into a leak in its water system.
Before using tap water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, or cooking, residents should heat it to a boil for one minute. Bottled water will be available at the village hall in the interim. Damon requested that locals phone 607-742-8402 to schedule a pick-up time.
On October 19, many calls from Millport residents complaining that they had no water were received by water operators. Later, Millport Mayor Mike Damon stated that the water department is looking into a persistent problem with the Village’s water system.
Around noon, water operator Dean Wenzel issued a boil water warning after claiming that a leak in the water system made it impossible for the Village to maintain a safe amount of water in the storage tank. Residents have experienced poor water pressure as a result, and it may be necessary to turn off the neighborhood water supply in order to refill the reservoir tank.
Additionally, according to Wenzel’s declaration, it might take a week to find and fix all breaches and complete lab testing. The source of the leak is currently being looked into.
