Perinton Youth Triathlon returns after a year off
Perinton, N.Y. — Saturday around 70 athletes from ages 7 to 14 had a chance to compete for medals at the 9th annual Youth Triathlon at Center Park in Perinton.
Last year the competition was canceled because of the pandemic.
The event featured two race distances: “The Sprint” which involved a 50-yard swim, 2-mile bike, and .5-mile run, and “The Doubler” which involved a 100-yard swim, 4-mile bike, and 1-mile run.
“We are thrilled to bring back the Perinton Youth Triathlon after putting it on pause last year due to the pandemic,” said Town Supervisor Ciaran Hanna. “With the Tokyo Olympics inspiring the next generation of athletes, we are excited to offer our local children an opportunity to learn about teamwork, confidence, and overcoming challenges.”
The town of Perinton partnered with Towpath Bike and MVP Healthcare to put on the event.
