55 years old woman sentenced to prison after stealing $750,000 from employer

Woman from Phelps pleaded quilty for federal wire fraud charge.
She was sentenced to two years in prison for stealing more than $750,000 from her former employer.
55 years old Karen Owens was director of finance in Finger Lakes Conveyors, Inc for more than 14 years and she had the ability to issue checks from the company’s bank account.
During Karen’s employment at FLC, she wrote more than 500 unauthorized checks to herself in order to pay off her and her husband’s credit cards.
According to prosecutors, Karen fraudulently recorded some checks as business expenses to cover up some of the transactions.
