New York – Officials continue to urge everyone who hasn’t already been vaccinated to roll up their sleeves, as COVID-19 cases continue to climb in New York.

21 deaths were reported across the state, along with 4,340 new cases on Sunday.

“COVID-19 remains a serious threat to New Yorkers, and with the Delta variant spreading, the key to success is getting as many people vaccinated as we can,” Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a statement. “Millions of New Yorkers have taken the vaccine, sites are open across the state and the shot is free and effective. I urge everyone eligible who hasn’t gotten their shot yet to do so without delay.”

Statewide, 1,953 patients are in the hospital, while 404 patients are in the ICU and 185 are in the ICU with intubation.

New York’s daily positivity rate is at 3.01%, with the state’s seven-day average positivity rate at 3.14%.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data cited by the governor, 66.1% of all New Yorkers have at least one dose of a COVID vaccine, while 59.0% are fully vaccinated. Over the past 24 hours, 45,609 vaccine doses have been administered.
