$2,000 stimulus checks killed by Republicans in U.S. Senate
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConell blocked Democrats’ push to immediately bring President Donald Trump’s demand for $2,000 stimulus checks up for a vote.
Instead, he said the chamber would ‘begin a process’ to address the issue.
It’s unclear what that means, since the Republican controlled Senate has refused to move on any action that would mean bigger checks being granted to struggling Americans amid the Coronavirus Pandemic.
We should not adjourn until the Senate holds a vote,” Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said. Even though Congress approved $2,000 checks, and President Donald Trump was in favor of bigger checks – Republicans in Senate have remained stern in their calls for reigned in, targeted spending.
