Two teens shot in attempted robbery in Brooklyn

A gunman tried to hold up two youngsters in Brooklyn Wednesday, firing a fatal shot in the face of one of the teenagers and wounding the other, police said

The male victims, one 17, the other 16, were attacked on the corner of E. 26th St. and Foster Ave. in Flatbush about 2:40 p.m., police said.

The 17-year-old was shot in the face, the other in the arm. Medics took both to Kings County Hospital, but the older teen couldn’t be saved.

Police found two book bags, a hoodie, and a 9-mm handgun at the scene. It’s not clear if the gun belonged to one of the victims.

“It was like six shots. Boom, then boom boom boom boom,” said one witness, who didn’t give his name. “One of the kids was on his back, bleeding from his mouth. His friend was over him. Both his hands were bloody.”

The gunman ran south on E. 26th St., then turned east on Foster.

“There was a gun and a knife on the ground,” the witness said. “Those little kids, neither of the them looked like gangsters.”

Another witness said the victims and the shooter got into a heated argument outside a store around the corner moments before the killing.

Police didn’t make any immediate arrests.
