Thousands of people in Monroe County remain without power
Rochester, New York — After brutal winds tore through Monroe County Saturday, work continues to restore power to thousands.
According to county officials, as of noon Monday, nearly 7,500 RG&E customers don’t have power. The bulk of the outages are in Greece.
While signal lights aren’t working, some intersections remain manned by police, who are directing traffic.
The company estimates the majority of its customers in the dark will have power back on by midnight Tuesday.
According to the county, about 2,125 National Grid customers don’t have power. It expects to have it restored by midnight Tuesday.
From noon to 4 p.m. at the City of Batavia Fire Department, 18 Evans St. the company will distribute dry ice to customers.
The Town of Gates is holding a dry ice and water bottle distribution from noon to 5 p.m. at the town hall at 1605 Buffalo Road.
Monroe County Department of Transportation workers are identifying damaged trees that could be at risk of falling.
