Route 20 to be named after NY’s Medal of Honor recipients

Albany, New York – On Monday, Gov. Kathy Hochul signed legislation designating the state’s portion of U.S. Route 20 as the New York Medal of Honor Highway.

One of the longest highways in the country, Route 20 spans from Massachusetts to Oregon.

New York is now among 10 states joining a movement to name their portion of the road Medal of Honor Highway.

Including Dr. Mary Edwards Walker, the only woman to receive the honor, New York has had 676 Medal of Honor recipients, more than any other state.

A portion of Route 20 will be further designated The Disabled American Veterans – New York Medal of Honor Highway.
