Republicans in County Leg. asking for hearing on use of funds earmarked for FIT team

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Republicans in the Monroe County Legislature have questions about the money they earmarked to expand mental health services.
Last year, the legislature approved a bi-partisan bill setting aside $100,000, the county’s whole contingency fund, to bolster the Forensic Intervention Team, or FIT, so it would be available 24/7 to handle mental health crises.
GOP members are now questioning if that money, and matching funds from the city, were ever put to use by Monroe County Executive Adam Bello’s administration.
Republican leaders have submitted legislation that calls for a hearing on the matter.
If approved, it would be held on Feb. 23.
