Rochester, New York — On Monday morning, the annual Rochester Labor Day Parade took place, to celebrate the hard work of millions of employees across the nation.

“Organize and Rise” is this year’s parade theme, which commemorates the move to organize millions of new workers into unions.

This year’s parade started at East Avenue near Union Street around 11 a.m. and ended near Main Street and the Liberty Pole.

Prior to the event, the organizers of the event, Rochester Labor Council, hosted a press conference with local leaders and unions to discuss labor issues and movements in the country.

This year’s holiday celebrates the success of recent unionization efforts, including two Rochester-area Starbucks locations that unionized back in April.
