Buffalo, New York – The Kaisertown home where a mother and her infant daughter died in a fire early Monday morning had no working smoking detectors.

Around 1:30 a.m., the two-alarm fire started in a house on Weiss Street in Buffalo.

According to Fire Commissioner William Renaldo, the 31-year-old woman and the 7-month-old baby were found near a window in a second-floor bedroom.
